Build, manage and grow your very own city with SimCity 2000, the classic city-building simulation brought to the Nintendo 64 in a Japanese-exclusive release.
Released exclusively in Japan in 1998, this version of SimCity 2000 brings the familiar city-building formula to Nintendo’s 64-bit console, letting you plan roads, manage utilities, develop your population and deal with the inevitable disasters that come with running a growing metropolis.
But this isn’t simply a straight port. The Nintendo 64 version includes a number of unique additions, including 3D mini-games, a dating game, horse racing and even monster breeding. Some of the game’s disasters also take a distinctly Japanese N64 turn, with giant monsters capable of attacking your carefully constructed city.
Developed by Maxis and published in Japan by Imagineer, this version of SimCity 2000 was never released outside Japan, making it a particularly interesting addition for collectors exploring the Japanese-exclusive Nintendo 64 library.
The Japanese release features Japanese text and menus. Please note that an understanding of Japanese may be required to get the most out of the game.
Please note: this is a Japanese NTSC-J cartridge and requires compatible Japanese or region-compatible Nintendo 64 hardware to play.
A fascinating and unusual version of a classic PC simulation, and a great piece of Japanese Nintendo 64 history.
