Experience the original Japanese release of Paper Mario with Mario Story, Nintendo’s beloved storybook-style RPG for the Nintendo 64.
Released in Japan in 2000, Mario Story is the game that would become known internationally as Paper Mario. Developed by Intelligent Systems, this charming RPG combines turn-based battles, exploration and puzzle-solving with its distinctive paper-inspired visual style.
Join Mario on a journey through the Mushroom Kingdom as he sets out to rescue the seven Star Spirits and save Princess Peach from Bowser. Along the way, you’ll meet a memorable cast of companions, explore colourful locations and take on enemies using a unique action-command battle system.
The Japanese release is particularly interesting for collectors, featuring the original Mario Story title and Japanese packaging, menus and text. It was released almost six months before the North American version and more than a year before the Australian release of Paper Mario.
This is the Japanese NTSC-J version of the game and features Japanese text throughout. Please note that an understanding of Japanese is required to play and follow the story.
A landmark Nintendo 64 RPG and an essential piece of early Paper Mario history, perfect for Nintendo and Mario collectors looking to add something a little different to their collection.
