Rather than being a straightforward arcade racing game, Derby Stallion 64 is built around the management and strategy of horse racing. Choose horses, manage their training and development, enter races and work towards building a successful stable.

The game draws heavily from Japan’s real-world horse-racing culture, with Japanese racing terminology, courses and competition structures forming a major part of the experience.
