Take to the snow and ice in Hyper Olympics in Nagano 64, Konami’s Nintendo 64 celebration of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics.
Released in Japan in December 1997, this is the Japanese version of Nagano Winter Olympics ’98, bringing the excitement of the Winter Games to Nintendo 64 with a collection of events inspired by the real competition.
Take part in 12 Olympic events, including downhill skiing, giant slalom, snowboarding, speed skating, bobsleigh, luge, freestyle skiing and curling. Compete for medals, chase world records and work your way through the events as you represent one of 16 different countries.
The game combines Konami’s arcade-style approach to sports with motion-captured athletes and a range of events that are easy to pick up but challenging to master. Whether you’re chasing the fastest time or simply trying to stay on the track, there’s plenty of frantic fun to be had.
With four-player support, Hyper Olympics in Nagano 64 also makes for a great multiplayer addition to an N64 collection. Records can be saved using a Controller Pak.
The Japanese release is particularly interesting for collectors as the original Hyper Olympics in Nagano 64 version, released several weeks before the international Nagano Winter Olympics ’98. It carries the Japanese product code NUS-NH5J-JPN.
Please note: this is a Japanese NTSC-J cartridge and requires compatible Japanese or region-compatible Nintendo 64 hardware to play.
A fun snapshot of late-1990s Olympic gaming and a great addition to any Nintendo 64 sports collection.
