Jikkyō J.League Perfect Striker (1998) – Nintendo 64 (Japanese Version) – Cartridge Only

Take to the pitch with Jikkyō J.League Perfect Striker, Konami’s fast-paced Nintendo 64 football game featuring the teams and players of Japan’s J.League.

Released in Japan in 1998, Perfect Striker brings Konami’s acclaimed football gameplay to the Nintendo 64, combining responsive controls, arcade-style action and a full roster of Japanese professional teams.

Choose your J.League club and compete through a range of match and competition modes, with quick passing, dribbling, shooting and set pieces all forming part of the action. The game is designed to be easy to pick up while still offering plenty of room to develop your skills.

For football fans, the game’s biggest appeal is its connection to the 1998 J.League season, making it a fantastic time capsule of Japanese domestic football at the end of the 1990s.

It’s also an interesting piece of Konami history. The Perfect Striker series formed part of the lineage that would become better known internationally through International Superstar Soccer, one of Konami’s most successful football franchises.

The Japanese release is particularly interesting for collectors because the game was never localised under the Perfect Striker name for Western markets. It offers a glimpse at the Japanese origins of the series before its international evolution.

The game is presented in Japanese, so some knowledge of Japanese may be helpful when navigating menus and competition modes.

Please note: this is a Japanese NTSC-J cartridge and requires compatible Japanese or region-compatible Nintendo 64 hardware to play.

A great piece of late-1990s Japanese football history and an interesting addition for fans of Konami’s classic football games.
