Mario Tennis (2000) – Nintendo 64 (Japanese Version) – Cartridge Only

Step onto the court with Mario, Luigi, Peach and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom crew in Mario Tennis, Camelot’s classic Nintendo 64 tennis game.

Released in Japan in 2000, Mario Tennis brings the Mushroom Kingdom to the tennis court with a mix of accessible arcade-style gameplay and surprisingly deep mechanics. Choose from a colourful roster of Mario characters and compete across a range of singles and doubles matches.

The game is easy to pick up, but there’s plenty of room to develop your skills. Use different shot types, control your positioning and learn to anticipate your opponent as you work your way through increasingly challenging matches.

With up to four-player multiplayer, Mario Tennis is particularly well suited to the N64’s classic pick-up-and-play multiplayer experience. Grab a few friends, choose your characters and settle the score on the court.

It’s also an important game in Mario history. Mario Tennis marked the debut of Waluigi, who was introduced as Wario’s doubles partner, while also bringing Princess Daisy and Birdo back into the wider Mario sporting universe.

Developed by Camelot Software Planning and published by Nintendo, the game was released in Japan on 21 July 2000, followed by North America and Europe later that year.

The Japanese version features Japanese text and menus and is a great way to experience this classic N64 sports title in its original Japanese release.

Please note: this is a Japanese NTSC-J cartridge and requires compatible Japanese or region-compatible Nintendo 64 hardware to play.

A colourful, accessible and endlessly playable N64 classic — and an essential addition for any Mario or Nintendo 64 collection.
