The one that started it all. Take Nintendo’s biggest stars, throw them into one arena and let the chaos begin with the original Super Smash Bros.
Released in Japan in 1999, Super Smash Bros. was the first game in what would become one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises. Developed by HAL Laboratory, it brings characters including Mario, Link, Pikachu, Kirby, Samus and Fox together for fast-paced battles across a selection of iconic Nintendo stages.
Whether you’re playing through the single-player mode, unlocking characters and stages, or settling the score with friends, Super Smash Bros. is at its best with up to four players battling it out in classic free-for-all and team matches.
The Japanese version is particularly interesting for collectors, featuring the original Japanese title Nintendo All-Star! Dairantou Smash Brothers and Japanese packaging, menus and text. It was released in Japan on 21 January 1999, several months before the North American and Australian releases.
Please note: this is a Japanese NTSC-J cartridge and requires compatible Japanese or region-compatible Nintendo 64 hardware to play.
An essential Nintendo 64 classic and a must-have for any Nintendo, Smash Bros. or Japanese N64 collection.
